The Disregarded

Twenty-three years ago, Shane Harper's best friend disappeared into the woods outside Morrowpine.

Michael Mercer was never found.

Shane left town carrying the guilt with him, burying the past beneath years of alcohol and regret. Then a package arrives containing objects that should have remained buried with the mystery: an old cassette tape, a tarnished key, a newspaper clipping, and a message written in a familiar hand.

Come Home.

Returning to Morrowpine means confronting everything Shane spent more than two decades trying to forget. But the town remembers Michael. So do the woods.

And something in those woods remembers Shane.

He soon discovers that Michael's disappearance was only part of something much older-something tied to the land, to the people who vanished before him, and to a darkness that feeds on grief, isolation, and the memories people would give anything to forget.

As Shane follows the trail his friend left behind, he must confront the night that destroyed his life and a terrifying truth buried beneath Morrowpine for generations.

Some doors should never be opened.

Some things should never be remembered.
