The book is profusely illustrated with shop photos and drawings throughout. "Containing a Treatise on the Construction of Saws and How to Keep Them in Order, Together with Other Information of Kindred Character." Here are some examples of the contents: Butcher Saws; Hammers; Frozen Timber; American Saw Co. Designs; Shapes of Teeth; Circular Knives; Hand Saws; Speed of Saws; The Making of Levels; Sharpening; Hints to Sawyers and Sawmill Men; Mandrels; Construction of Saws; Speed of Saws; Wood Saws.and much more. The book is a classic industrial guide and tool catalog detailing the construction, operation, and maintenance of various woodworking tools. It acted as Booth an educational treatise and a marketing tool for Disston's famously high-quality crucible steel. The book is primarily a practical manual for sawmill operators, lumber trade workers, and hobbyist woodworkers.
Condition:
Clean front and back covers. The word "SAWS" is written at the top of the spine. The back cover has a vertical down the center from the top edge to the bottom edge. A small bit of the paper has chipped away at the top edge of the front cover, and at the top-left corner of the back cover. There are a couple tiny tears at the left edge of the back cover. The cloth has torn at the top of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. The text pages are in great condition - clean with no notable issues found. Overall the book is in Good+ condition.
