Diversity and Developmentally Appropriate Practices (Early Childhood Education)

This work offers critiques of early childhood education and developmentally appropriate practices. The editors seek to expand the current definition of developmentally appropriate practices to include alternative theoretical and practical perspectives necessary for addressing the needs of young children with cultural and developmental differences.

REBECCA S. NEW is Associate Professor of Child Development and Director of Teacher Education, Eliot-Pearson Dept. of Child Development, Tufts University. She has published widely in professional journals and for Teachers College Press and Jossey-Bass.
