The Divine Pattern: Living Symbols

The myths were not written simply to entertain us.

They were preserved because they carry patterns of life.

In this powerful exploration of Heathen belief and heroic myth, presenting the old stories as a practical guide for modern living. The gods and heroes are not treated as distant figures locked in ancient poetry, but as living examples of discipline, courage, responsibility, love, sacrifice, household, and transformation.

This book examines the heroic path through figures such as Thor, Sigurd, Heracles, and Ulysses, showing how their trials can help modern readers understand the deeper work of becoming stronger, wiser, and more fully grounded in a successful life.

Thor teaches strength in service of protection.
Sigurd teaches that inheritance must be forged into destiny.
Heracles teaches endurance through labor and transformation.
Ulysses teaches the difficult art of return, restoration, and reclaiming the self after hardship.

Together, these patterns offer a way to incorporate Heathen values into daily life — not as empty symbolism, costume, or nostalgia, but as lived discipline.

This is a book about building the self.
Building the household.
Facing chaos.
Resisting weakness.
Honoring grief.
Choosing duty.
Protecting love.
And becoming useful to the world again.

A special section is included for veterans, exploring the return from service through the mythic pattern of Ulysses and the long road back to home, family, purpose, and peace.
