Divorce Help Sourcebook

Offers advice on both legal and personal levels and lists services to help with the often difficult process of divorce

This work combines in one volume information that otherwise would have to be pulled from many works. It is designed to help those going through divorce by simplifying the search for information that might be needed. Each of the five main chapters ("Legal Matters," "Financial Matters," "Practical Matters," "Parenting," "Health and Well-Being") begins with an essay by a recognized expert in an area of divorce. Following this, the chapter lists organizations and publications that can be consulted for further information. These resource listings of books, periodical articles, and videos are broken down into various subjects. The entries are well annotated, and sources are current.

Special areas of concern in each chapter are highlighted with a gray background. These inserts provide a summary of things to be aware of. The final section of the book, organized alphabetically by state, provides summaries of key laws related to divorce as well as listing contacts that may be useful, such as child-support enforcement offices, self-help clearinghouses, and bureaus of vital statistics. The index is detailed, listing subjects, organizations, and publications.

This is an excellent reference tool that may also be considered as a circulating book, due to the wealth of information it contains for those who are in some way touched by divorce. Recommended for college and university libraries as well as all public libraries.
