About the Author

E. Goodman Obot, MD, is a physician with extensive public health training. Dr. Obot graduated from Lutheran High School, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Dr. Obot obtained his undergraduate, medical, and specialty training in Houston, Texas. He then completed the prestigious Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and was an assistant professor at Emory University School of Medicine from 1995 to 1997. Dr. Obot is now the chief consultant at the Uyo University Teaching Hospital in the Niger Delta of Nigeria.
