Doctor Johnson and Mrs Thrale: Including Mrs Thrale's Unpublished Journal of the Welsh Tour Made in 1774 and Much Hitherto Unpublished Correspondence of the Streatham Coterie

This collection of letters and journals offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of Samuel Johnson and his close friend Hester Lynch Thrale. Thrale's unpublished journal of their travels through Wales in 1774 is a highlight, as are the numerous letters between Johnson and members of the Streatham Coterie, a group of literary and social elites. Edited and annotated by Alexander Meyrick Broadley and Thomas Seccombe, this volume is an invaluable resource for students of 18th-century literature and society.
