St. German's work shifted the definition of equity away from arbitrary royal grace and toward a structured system of moral fairness within the courts. This 1761 edition is particularly notable as it was printed by Samuel Richardson-the famous novelist who ran a highly successful law printing patent-and Catherine Lintot. It also includes the crucial "thirteen chapters" on parliamentary power, which shaped the rhetoric of both British and American lawyers on the eve of the American Revolution.
