About the Authors

Andrea Rowe is a best-selling, award-winning picture book author. Andrea loves to write stories where characters explore the great outdoors, ponder big questions and move through tricky feelings, which inspire conversations amongst children, families and educators. Her picture book, Jetty Jumping (illustrated by Hannah Sommerville), was awarded the 2022 CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood.
Andrea is also the winner of several Australian short story awards, an ambassador for Australian children’s literature, an Ardoch Youth Foundation Writer In Resident and Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation mentor, and has been awarded a 2024 May Gibbs Fellowship.
Andrea loves reading in cosy nooks, where she’s always surrounded by stacks of books.

Julia Murray is an illustrator and typographer living in Aotearoa, New Zealand. She won a colouring competition at age 8 and hasn’t looked back – applying her work to everything from book covers to puzzles and beer cans. She has a background designing for publishing, which sparked her love of books. This experience has given her a versatility of style, a strength in combining typography with illustration and a designer’s eye for composition and detail. Julia’s work reflects a love of colour with a touch of femininity.
