[From review by: Peadar LivingstoneClogher Record, Vol. 7, No. 1 (1969), pp. 123-125] Continuity is the theme of this widely acclaimed parish history, the persistence which the 'old stock' displayed down the centuries to leave them in such a strong position in the foothills of Tyrone to this day. This is, indeed, the story of the old race in Donaghmore, a story which Father Doibhlin has unearthed from Gaelic and Planter sources and which he has read with Irish eyes. One might be tempted to ask is such a longwork by such a gifted author worthwhile, seeing that it is confined to such a limited area. Father O Doibhlin has answeredthat question himself in his preface, 'Ni feidir stair na hEireanna scriobh go scrioftar stair na bParoisdi'. This work itself is aglowing proof of that thesis.
