Item description from seller

10 issues: September, November and December 1937, March to August 1938 and July 1939, 32pp each issue, sketches in the text, paper covers. Some dusting and foxing etc to the covers, a few minor marks here & there and one page loose in the March 1938 issue. Overall a nice collection of these pre-war motoring periodicals, with a mixture of articles on technical subjects (Oil Viscosity, Aspects of Lubrication, Piston Ring Flutter etc) and motoring generally together with a children's page and, in 9 of the 10 issues, a page on golf by J Bruce Kerr, a member of the Cambridge University golf team from 1901 to 1903. The Dominion Motor Spirit Co was founded in 1923 and in 1934 it was taken over by Shell Mex & BP - the same year as the start of the 'New Series' of the magazine. Rare items, internet searches reveal very few extant examples and only one issue held by the British Library.

Store description

A member of the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association (PBFA), I have been a nearly full time bookseller since the mid 2000s working from home in Bristol. I concentrate on books on transport (mainly railways), industrial history, maritime, topography, the Beatles & other groups from the 1960s and interesting ephemera. I particularly specialise in official publicity of the British railway companies. I sell on ABE, on eBay under the moniker 'mr.publicity' and at book and transport collectors' fairs. I keep a modest stock of quality material which is constantly changing - I spend a good deal of my time travelling around the UK seeking out and acquiring new stock. …
