Broadside, 9 x 12 in., printed in black, the Cervantes name and a rule in red, on cream Basingwerk paper from England. The text consists of a quotation/excerpt in Spanish, followed by English, from Don Quixote de la Mancha, Chapter 34. The words are set in Romanée and Cancelleresca typefaces and arranged in the shape of a heart. Elegantly designed and executed, and beautifully printed, this broadside is one among 25 in the portfolio, "Orbis Typographicus," designed by Zapf, printed letterpress by Philip Metzger at his Crabgrass Press, and produced as a result of their 10-year collaboration. From one of 99 sets produced. A just about fine copy (a couple of short faint corner creases).
