Paperback. Doubt, Hope, Action is Uffe Elbaeks journey in search of hope and an invitation to a gentle revolution. In this thoughtful and provocative book, Elbaek explores many of the challenges and contradictions that define our time especially the urgent question: What kind of world are we leaving for future generations?Chapter by chapter Elbaek confronts the planetary endgame we face. A collapse of both outer and inner structures. From climate collapse, epidemics and violent social, political and technological conflicts, through the weakening of democratic institutions, right-wing radicalisation and fighting over resources, to regional warfare and the reemergence of something looking very much like old-fashioned imperialism. He refuses to accept despair. Why? Because he knows that another world is possible. And that it is already here in the values-driven entrepreneurs, democratic businesses, citizen groups, cooperatives, cultural initiatives, organic farming collectives and a whole new generation of progressive political voices. Every one of them is a pledge that a green, democratic, post-capitalist society is possible.Blending sharp social analysis with heartfelt optimism, Doubt, Hope, Action urges progressive movements and all people to recognise their shared purposeand to unite, mobilise, and act. A bold, hopeful call to face crisis honestly and act together for a different future.
Doubt, Hope, Action is Uffe Elbaek's journey in search of hope and an invitation to a gentle revolution. In this thoughtful and provocative book, he explores the defining challenges and contradictions of our time, asking one urgent question: What kind of world are we leaving for future generations?
Chapter by chapter, Elbaek confronts the planetary endgame we face: climate collapse, epidemics, violent social, political, and technological conflicts, the weakening of democratic institutions, right-wing radicalisation, resource conflict, regional warfare, and the reemergence of something that looks very much like old-fashioned imperialism. He describes not only the collapse of outer systems, but also the inner structures that shape how people live, hope, and act.
- Sharp social analysis of climate crisis, democracy, political conflict, and the breakdown of existing systems
- A hopeful political economy perspective rooted in the belief that another world is possible
- Real-world examples of change including values-driven entrepreneurs, democratic businesses, citizen groups, cooperatives, cultural initiatives, and organic farming collectives
- A call to unite and mobilise for progressive movements and all people who share a sense of responsibility for the future
- A compelling invitation to action for readers who refuse despair and want to help build a green, democratic, post-capitalist society
Blending heartfelt optimism with urgent reflection, this 224-page book argues that hope is not passive. It is something to be practiced, organised, and turned into action. For Elbaek, the signs of a different future are already here in communities, businesses, and political voices working toward more democratic and sustainable ways of living.
Doubt, Hope, Action is a timely read for anyone interested in political economy, climate collapse, democratic renewal, social change, and the shared work of building a more just future. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines.
