Down in Devon Volume 3

Down In Devon is a sprawling Victorian novel by Stephen Watson Fullom that follows Letty Rivers and a cast of suitors and relatives through love, betrayal, and social ambition. After a divorce from her lover Ralph Granby, Letty navigates the pressures of inheritance, marriage, and status amid Chesney and London society, the Abbey, and Devonshire life. The plot interlaces episodes of romance, social maneuvering, and factional feuds as Ralph seeks reconciliation, Fay Dorrington presses mercenary schemes, and Jack Reeve rescues Alice Mead. The story weaves through fires, lawsuits, and family dramas, culminating in contested estates, secret marriages, and renewed commitments. Ultimately the circle experiences forgiveness and renewal: Letty and Ralph are reunited, Fay marries Isaac Wingfield, Jack and Alice begin a new life, and the tale closes with a hopeful, sunlit closure of emotional and social upheavals.
