Item description from seller

Second printing. Profiles of Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Jack Dempsey, Diego Rivera, H.L. Mencken, Walter Winchell, Paul Bern, Tod Sloan, and more. Tully left his hometown of St. Marys, Ohio, in 1901, spending most of his teenage years in the company of hoboes. Drifting across the country as a “road kid,” he spent those years scrambling into boxcars, sleeping in hobo jungles, avoiding railroad cops, begging meals from back doors, and haunting public libraries. Square binding. The writer that H.L. Mencken called America's Dostoevsky. Green cloth. Clean text block in original dust jacket. Chipping to spine ends of jacket, light soiling, now wrapped in Brodart. 242 pages.
