About the Author
Before Dr. Hope, J.A.P.D. (Just A Pretend Doctor) had finished with school he had lived in over thirty different environments. As a child he lived in foster homes, state run dormitories, with step parents, grandparents and in boarding schools. He saw first hand abuses that most of us can't even imagine. He vowed as an adult that one day he would help make the world a better place for children. He started the "Life Lesson Series" of which Laughing Day was the first, to help kids get a head start on life. Dr. Hope’s award-winning empowering storybooks give children self-esteem, teach them the power of believing in themselves, the joy in helping others, the love of laughter, to always try their best, and the benefits of living in the present moment. Among the children’s titles he has written are Laughing Day, The Frog Who Couldn't Jump, Chip, the Little Computer, Punctuation Pals, Wonderful Wuzs and Little Miss Contradiction. Tim ‘Dr. Hope’ Anders has also written the true love story of his parents, Everybody Calls My Father, Father. In it he exposes to the world the Catholic Church’s reprehensible acts perpetrated against his mother, a Broadway actress, who fell in love with his father, a Catholic priest. He has also written two self-help books: The Best Red Book on Weight Control and Pumping Iron: A Traveling Poker Player's 10 Minute Hotel Room Workout. Tim 'Dr. Hope' Anders is also a professional poker player and can be seen on TV playing in World Poker Tour events. He is also a talented piano player, composer, lyricist, and producer. He has teamed up with Comic/Actor/Singer Russ T. Nailz and together they have created a series of delightfully humorous children's CD’s. On the CD’s Dr. Hope's stories are brought to life through talented voice actors, special audio effects, heart-felt background music, and delightfully humorous songs that make kids think and laugh. Dr. Hope donates a portion of his royalties and poker winnings to ChildHelp(r) an organization that fights child abuse. In 2005 the San Diego Chapter of ChildHelp(r) awarded him and his wife, the For the Love of a Child Award, to honor them for their years of commitment in helping victims of child abuse.
