But You Seem Fine

They say you’re okay. You look fine. But inside, you’re falling apart.

But You Seem Fine is a deeply personal and compassionate guide for anyone silently struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, burnout, or postpartum darkness. In a world that celebrates strength and dismisses emotional pain, this book opens up the quiet truth behind the smiles we wear.

Written by Dr. Subin Mathews, a multi-disciplinary scientist and mental health advocate, this book was born not from theory, but from experience. After watching his wife battle years of silent postpartum depression, he set out to give words to the pain so many carry in silence.

This book will help you understand why healing isn’t linear, how trauma can shape adult behaviour, what therapy is (and isn’t), and how cultural, religious, and family dynamics influence mental health, especially in Indian homes.

Whether you’re struggling yourself or supporting someone who is, this book is your reminder:

You are not weak. You are not broken.

You are not alone.

And you never were.
