Volumes have been rebacked at some distant time, with black panels to spines for the title and the volume number. 'New' endpapers. General wear, bumped, grubby, foxed, age-toned, scuff marks. Volume I- names to front pastedown, bruised upper left rear corner, names and notations to page opposite verso of frontispiece, some offset resulting from frontispiece of Ben Jonson, contents page at rear states 'Volume the first'; Volume II: names to front pastedown, offsets resulting from frontispiece of Francis Beaumont, glue marks around pastedowns, contents page states 'Volume the First', last page states "End of Volume I"; Volume III: glue marks around pastedowns, offsets resulting from frontispiece of John Fletcher, some small ink marks to title page, Contents page states 'Volume the third'; but stated 'End of the Second volume' at final page; Volume IV has glue marks around pastedowns, no frontispiece. The puzzle over the volume numbers possibly a publishing error. The actual contents of each volume are as the contents pages list them. With all its faults, a handsome set. Contents good, the plays are in two columns throughout. This item is heavy and may attract additional postage. Pictures available on request.
