Jean-Paul Charles Aymard Sartre was born on June 21, 1905 in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. He was a French writer and philosopher, representative of the existentialist movement whose work and personality marked the intellectual and political life of France from 1945 to 1970. A prolific writer, founder and editor of Modern Times magazine, he is known both for his philosophical and literary works that, due to his political commitments, first, in association with the Communist Party and then with the left-wing currents of 1970. Without compromise and faithful to his ideas, he always rejected both honors and any form of censorship. In particular, he refused the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1964. He shared his life with Simone de Beauvoir, a feminist philosopher and existentialism. Their philosophies, although close, should not be confused, although both authors have influenced each other. She was deeply criticized by Jankélévitch for her attitude during the occupation. With this book, his first novel, Sartre reached a fame that will be developed later.
