Drawing Traditional Buildings

Country buildings and village scenes have always inspired amateur artists and are certainly among their most popular subjects. Here is the first step-by-step guide showing how to improve technique and create beautiful and authentic drawings of the buildings which epitomize the English scene. Richard Taylor's own accomplished illustrations lay bare the vital elements of composition and stress the value of proper appreciation of architectural detail. He analyses the structures of all the main types of building from houses and cottages to windmills and oasthouses and explains how to recreate the characteristic texture and tone of building materials, whether brick, stone, slate, glass or weatherboarding. Numerous instructive diagrams elucidate the detailed points made in the text, which covers every aspect of drawing buildings, from Saxon churches to Georgian windows. A unique and essential reference for all artists wanting to illustrate the delights of traditional buildings.
