More attention is given to the visual ideas of drawing in this edition, dealing with seminal topics such as letter design, geometry, and subjects, but also drawing for picture books and graphic novels, as well as providing practical information of how one learns to draw professionally. This book shows a special interest--without taking sides--in the intellectualizing of art brought about by university art departments and technology, and the effect this has had on traditional skill-based approaches to art. About the Author: Roger Winter taught painting and drawing at Southern Methodist University from 1963 to 1989. His past students include nationally recognized artists John Alexander, David Bates, Stephen Mueller, and Robert Yarber. His work has been represented by the Fischbach Gallery in New York City and has been shown at galleries throughout the U.S. as well as being contained in many notable collections. In 2007, Winter received the Legends Award from the Dallas Contemporary Museum of Art which exhibited his works from the past 40 years.
