About the Author
Recipient of the Order of Canada and several honourary doctorates, Rita Joe lives and writes and operates her craft shop on the Eskasoni reserve in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She is the author of four books of poetry, an autobiography and an important anthology of Mi'kmaw writing.
