Historische Ortsansicht, von Samuel Prout. 40,5 x 27,5 cm (Darstellung), 51,5 x 36,5 cm (Blatt).Aus: Samuel Prout, Fac similes of sketches made in Flanders and Germany and drawn on stone by Samuel Prout (London: Hullmandel 1833). Blattrand etwas knickspurig und angeschmutzt. Kleine FEhlstelle links unten. Insgesamt noch gut erhalten.Samuel Prout (1783 Plymouth - 1852 London). Englischer Vedutenmaler, Aquarellist und Lithograf. Bereits mit 18 Jahren für J. Brittons Beauties of England and Wales tätig. 1803 zog er nach London, wo er sich bis 1812 aufhielt. Um seinen Lebensunterhalt zu bestreiten, gab er Unterricht, malte Marinebilder und gab Zeichenbücher heraus. Hier machte er sich wohl auch mit der neuen Technik der Lithographie vertraut und vervollkommnete sich darin. Ab 1818 bereiste er wiederholt den Kontinent und malte Landschaften und Architekturveduten aus England, Holland, Frankreich, Deutschland und Italien. Im Stein monogrammiert links unten, mittig betitelt. Von fremder Hand am Blattrand in Bleistift bezeichnet Zwinger Aufgang rechts unten. 40,5 x 27,5 cm (Darstellung), 51,5 x 36,5 cm (Blatt).
