Driver seat: Navigating Transitions, Trauma & Triumph

Driver Seat is a leadership book forged in raw honesty, biblical truth, and lived experience. Through the life of Joseph, Bishop Jonathan Everett reveals that leadership is not just about calling, but about stamina, stewardship, self-awareness, and the courage to stay behind the wheel when life applies pressure. The book confronts the dangerous mindset of “God, take the wheel,” teaching that while God gives direction, leaders are still responsible for driving—faith is not passive, and leadership requires participation. From pit to palace, Driver Seat walks readers through the untrained spaces of leadership—betrayal, delay, confinement, sudden elevation, and unresolved trauma—exposing a critical truth: most leaders don’t fail at the destination; they fail in the in-between. Blending biblical insight, leadership principles, and real-life experience, this book shows that sustained success is built not on gifting alone, but on emotional intelligence, mental health, and the ability to maintain identity in hostile environments.

“God gives vision—but leaders must drive. Driver Seat is a wake-up call for anyone ready to take responsibility for their calling. God never intended for you to sit in the passenger seat of your own purpose. Driver Seat calls leaders to stop outsourcing responsibility, steward what they’ve been given, and drive with faith, discipline, and endurance.” Jonathan Everett, Bishop
