About the Author: James Fogle (1936–2012) was the author of the autobiographical Drugstore Cowboy. Drugstore Cowboy was turned into an award-winning film in 1989 by Gus Van Sant. The Los Angeles Times described the exploits of the characters in Fogle’s book as “laced with humor, pathos, and sheer bad luck.”
