About the Author

In 1968, we built our first dehydrator to dry the abundant wild herbs on our woodland farm. After three years of experiments with a variety of drying systems, we found the one that we thought was best, the one that eventually became the Living Foods Dehydrator.

It was designed to be trouble-free, efficient, and inexpensive. We were soon building dehydrators for neighbors and friends who came with materials in hand and questions galore. They wanted to know how to dry foods, when they were dry, how to store them, and how to use them.

We had a growing list of recipes to share, so we enlisted the talents of Paula Calderon to help gather those ideas. Her wonderful hand-printed text grew until we had a book. We published "Dry It--You'll Like It!" first in 1973. It is now in its 28th printing, with more than a quarter million copies sold, and we continue to share ideas and make friends around the world.
