Duck Stamps and Prints. The Complete Federal and State Editions by Joe McCaddin. Park Lane, New York, 1988. Red cloth binding with illustrated dust jacket, more than 600 illustrations, 300 in full color.

Reviews

Duck stamps and prints have proven their value as a sound investment, and the money raised by their initial sale helps to preserve national wetlands. This large-format book traces the history of federal and state duck stamp programs as they have evolved since the first federal stamp was issued in 1934. Stamp design competition and design trends are explained, brief biographies of all winning artists given, and the fine points of collecting concisely covered. The main attraction is the catalogue raisonne, illustrating every stamp issued through 1987. Over 400 high-quality color illustrations make this a visual treat. Recommended for large fine and graphic arts collections and libraries serving wildfowl enthusiasts. Stephen F. Rees, Bucks Cty. Free Lib., Levittown, Pa.
