4to. 29cm, 9p., with 1 photogravureportrait plate with tissue guard, on rag paper, in full navy bluemorocco, gilt decorated borders on the boards and gilt title on the uppercover, gilt rule decoration on the board edges and wide inner giltdentelles, marbled endpapers, t.e.g., in very good worn dark blue clothslipcase, a fine copy. (agc). ~ A study of the portrait, painted in1776 by George Romney, of his patron, the Duke of Richmond. The portraitis shown, in mezzotint, as a frontispiece. An interesting Canadianassociation copy with "Strathrobyn" etched in gilt on lower edge of uppercover; the name of a Tudor-style stone mansion built in Toronto in 1914.A very scarce art criticism by an eminent English painter andportraitist, William Roberts (1895-1980). In fine binding.
