The Duties Of The Heart (1909)

The Duties of the Heart is a book written by the medieval Jewish philosopher and rabbi, Bachye ben Joseph ibn Paquda, and translated into English by Edwin Collins. The book is a guide to ethical and moral behavior, focusing on the internal duties of the heart, such as love, fear, trust, and humility, rather than external actions. It is divided into ten sections, each addressing a different aspect of the human psyche, and provides practical advice on how to cultivate positive character traits and overcome negative ones. The book draws heavily on Jewish scripture and tradition, but its teachings are applicable to people of all faiths and backgrounds. The Duties of the Heart is considered a classic of Jewish literature and has been widely read and studied for centuries. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
