The third edition of this religious and moral treatise from Henry Tuke, a member of the prominent Quaker family of York. Third edition. In contemporary blue paper boards. Containing preliminary observations of the importance of religion and morality and of the Holy scriptures, followed by treatises on duties and meditations. With particular duties relevant to the husband, wife, parents, child, master, servant etc. Henry Tuke, together with his father William Tuke, co-founded the Reatreat asylum in York, England, a humane alternative to the 19th-century network of asyla, based on Quaker principles. The Tuke family of York were a family of Quaker innovators also involved in establishing Rownstree's Cocoa Works and three Quaker schools. With the bookplate of the Friends' Library, Luton, loosely inserted. In contemporary plain blue paper boards.Externally, with rubbing to the extremities and tide marks to the spine.
