About the Author

Sandro Salsa is a Professor in Mathematical Analysis at the Department of Mathematics, Politecnico di Milano, and Chairman from November 1999 until December 2008. He is the co-founder of the educational program in Mathematical Engineering at the Poilitecnico and co-founder of the Lab in Modelling and Scientific Computing (MOX) at the Mathematics Department. Annamaria Squellati  was formerly Lecturer of Mathematics at Bocconi University, Milan.
