Dynamics of Rural Labour

This book makes a critical study of the dynamics of rural labor market in Kerala through a case study of tapers in small holding sector of natural rubber plantations. Taking a close look at the broader characteristics and underlying paradoxes of rural laber market in the state, it addresses the various issues related to employment, wages and labor trying mechanisms in the small holding sector of natural rubber plantations. Analyzing the contractual arrangements and employment relations in the small holding sector, it also explores the livelihood diversification process of tapers and taper households in the context of the crisis in the sector.
