Introductions to Volumes I & III by Arthur Broadbent. Totalling 354 plates, plus 66 pages of text, with figures, chronological lists (of Popes, principal architects who worked in Rome, and principal buildings of Rome), indices; cr. folio; qr. blue cloth over blue papered boards, lettered in black, with varying degrees of fading and minor wear & tear, spine extremities splitting Volume V; bookseller's sticker on upper pastedown Volumes II & V, a little light foxing and offsetting; John Tiranti & Co., London, [1928]. The Scopas series. *With the inked signature of Norman H. Seabrook (1906-1978) on the upper free endpaper of Volumes I-III (dated 1930 in Volume III). Seabrook designed MacRobertson Girls' High School, 'the first Australian example of the modern functionalist style of architecture developed by the Dutch architect Willem Dudok' [Australian Dictionary of Biography]. Loosely inserted in Volume V is an order form for another publication in the Scopas series. Originally issued in parts over several years from 1840 onwards, Paul Letarouilly's Edifices was a monumental collection of plans, elevations and details of the buildings of Renaissance Rome.
