At the Midwestern Mechanics Conference held at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan May 7-9, 1981, the editors of this volume organized a special session on elastic wave propagation and scattering. The topics covering in this book include experimental techniques, analytical and numerical studies of scattering from single and finite numbers of obstacles as well as statistical theories of wave propagation in inhomogenous media.
