He holds a doctorate in lexicography and has authored several dictionaries and other research publications. A former president, ASIALEX, he has been the General Secretary, Lexicographical Society of India. Dr V. Murugan, who holds a D. Litt degree in Lexicography and Translation, is the author of 15 books including several translations from Tamil and an electronic Tamil-Tamil-English dictionary. Presently, he heads the Department of English, Presidency College, Chennai.
