Pu� esistere una "responsabilit� sociale delle imprese" che coniughi etica e profitto economico? Quali sono i fattori dell'esperienza sociale, economica e politica in grado di spiegarla? Sono sufficienti tali fattori per realizzare un agire responsabile o questo resta una dichiarazione di principio da parte delle imprese pi� strategicamente orientate? E soprattutto: qual � la razionalit� oltre il mutamento e con quali risultati effettivi? L'ipotesi interpretativa da cui muove il volume cerca di fornire una risposta a questi interrogativi. I fenomeni che vanno sotto il nome di globalizzazione, complessit�, economicismo, postfordismo, deistituzionalizzazione, societ� dell'informazione e tecnologicamente avanzata, come la figura emergente del "consumatore cittadino", sicuramente rimente ettono in discussiOne gran parte delle dinamiche costitutive del moderno ordine sociale ed economico. Ognuno di questi fattori "strutturali" � in grado di incidere in maniera determinante sulle condizioni di realizzazione della RSI, spiegandone i meccanismi costitutivi essenziali sul piano esperienziale, come l'insistenza conoscitiva sul piano analitico. D'altro canto, per�, queste forze non sembrano in grado di realizzare il felice e atteso connubio tra etica ed economia che rimane smorzato nelle sue potenzialit� e incapace di tradursi in realt� di fatto. Il mutamento sperato, e per certi versi innestato, diviene lettera morta se la razionalit� che c'� dietro ridefinisce solo apparentemente il rapporto tra valore economico e valore sociale, e se quest'ultimo viene riconosciuto e negato al tempo stesso, come il concetto. di "disconferma" ben esemplifica. La RSI svela un quesito centrale per lo sviluppo economico e per il successo delle imprese ma non lo risolve in senso costruttivo e, cos� facendo, lascia se stessa e l'esperienza cui attinge nell'"equivoco": il valore sociale deve essere soltanto dreninvece, anche riprodotto?
