Stop Wasting Money on the Wrong Software: The Ultimate Guide to ERP Selection for Your Business
Every year, hundreds of companies invest in new enterprise software or ERP systems convinced they made the right choice. Yet, 12 to 18 months after signing the contract, implementation times have doubled, consulting costs have skyrocketed, and users reject the new tool, clinging to their old spreadsheets.
Why does this happen? Because the selection process is often flawed from the start.
Choosing an enterprise software is not a standard purchasing activity; it is a long-term strategic decision. However, there is a deep information asymmetry at the negotiating table: software vendors and system integrators do this every day, while you might face it only two or three times in your entire career. Without a rigorous, objective methodology, you risk buying what the vendor is best at selling, rather than what your organization actually needs.
Written by an independent project manager and advisor with decades of experience on both sides of the market, this manual provides a pragmatic, brand-neutral framework to govern the entire software selection process. From mapping your initial requirements to signing a bulletproof contract, this step-by-step guide is designed to protect your investment.
Inside, you will discover how to:
-
Map Your Processes Effectively: Conduct a proper As-Is and To-Be analysis without spending a fortune on external consultants.
-
Avoid the "Wishlist" Trap: Use the MoSCoW method to categorize your requirements and spot vendor "Red Flags" before it's too late.
-
Calculate the Real TCO (Total Cost of Ownership): Uncover the hidden costs of SaaS, on-premise architectures, and implementation services over a 5-year horizon.
-
Demystify AI in ERPs: Separate genuine, ROI-generating Artificial Intelligence from deceptive "AI Washing" marketing jargon.
-
Choose the Right Partner: Understand why your System Integrator's industry expertise (verticality) is often more critical than the software itself.
-
Negotiate Like a Pro: Learn the essential contract clauses, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and data protection strategies to secure your business and guarantee a safe exit strategy.
Whether you run a small business of 15 employees or manage the IT department of a mid-sized enterprise, this guide cuts through the sales pitches. It equips you with the tools, scorecards, and confidence needed to make a foolproof decision and turn your digital transformation into a real competitive advantage.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
