Dark olive cloth rubbed with light staining, front board's gilt stamping remains bright with some flaking to spine's gilt lettering which is otherwise also bright. Soiling to edge, light toning to endpapers along with light soiling to front endpapers; past owner's ink inscription on front free endpaper; a few pages have light foxing but interior leaves are mostly quite clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy. With frontispiece, Foreword, b/w plates, Summary, Index, and single page of publisher's advertisements at rear. Features fourteen chapters titled as: "The Arts," "The Fine Arts," "Architecture," "Elements in Architectural Composition," "The Background," "The Purpose," "The Materials," "Architectural Personality," "Unity," "Balance," "Emphasis," "Proportion, "The Picturesque," and "Ornament." A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, William Roger Greeley was a Boston-based city planner and architect.
