THE ESSENTIAL DARWIN: BY CHARLES DARWIN, Four fabulous green coloured hardback books, with gilt titles on brown leather set on an oval shaped box, positioned, at the top part of the spine and gilt titles are also set on the front boards. Beautifully presented by The Folio Society (as one has come to expect), these four books are in near first class condition, hardly read or used by the looks of each book. As the four books are used, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Each of the four books is listed in no particular order: 1: "The Descent of Man" and Selection in Relation to Sex, 592 pages, 2: "The Expressions of the Emotions" in Man and Animals, 258 pages, 3: "A Naturalist's Voyage" Journal of Researches into the Natural History and Geology of the Countries Visited during The Voyage of H.M.S. Beagle round the World, under the command of Captain Fitz Roy: Introduction by Richard Hawkins, 395 pages, 4: "On The Origin of Species" by Means of Natural Selection, or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life, 298 page. All four volumes pages are intact, very clean, readable with nice tight bindings. Please note these four books together with the boxed slipcase, weigh a considerable amount of weight, therefore postage / shipping may increase from listed price depending on final destination. All four books were published by the Folio Society in 1990, all set in Ehrhardt and printed in Great Britain by Butler & Tanner, Frome, on Hebrides Antique Laid Paper, Bound at Butler & Tanner in full buckram Typography by Humphry Stone. Fine four books that would grace any stylish library and the perfect books to read all about Charles Darwin a well travelled, curious man that was before his time.
