K.V. Mohanan, Ph.D. has served University of Calicut, Kerala, India as Lecturer, Reader and Professor for more than 36 years. Also he served as Head of the Department of Botany, Director of Interuniversity Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Director of School of Biosciences of the University during his academic career. Prof. Mohanan has authored more than 200 research publications, 10 books and several book chapters and popular science papers. He has served as editor and editorial board member of several reputed journals. Presently, he is the patron of Gregor Mendel Foundation, an academic body working for promoting education and research in genetics, breeding and biotechnology. His major areas of interest include genetics, breeding and biotechnology of tropical crops.
