Euripides (484-406 B.C.) The First Volume of two (stops at and including Iphigenia in Tauris) of Euripides eighteen (of nineteen) Tragedies. The text is printed entirely in Greek, aside the title page which repeats in Latin. Only preceded by the Aldine edition of 1503, subsequently Herwagen s two editions of Euripides (1537 and 1544) comprised eighteen tragedies in Greek. This volume includes Hecuba, Orestes, Phoenissae (Phoenician Women), Medea, Hyppolytus, Alcestis, Andromache, Supplices (The Suppliants), Iphigenia in Aulide, and Iphigenia in Tauris. Not included are: Rhesus, Troades (The Trojan Women), Bacchae, Cyclops, Heracleidae, Helena, Ion and Hercules Furens (Heracles). Annotated extensively throughout. The first 40 or so pages hand numbered, many pages with remains of damp staining effect to the pages. Closed tear to the margin of page hh not impacting any text. Approximately 7 ¾ inches tall.
