Plain wrappers. 22 cm. [3], 4-40 pp. Staining to top edge of front wrapper and a portion of the upper page margins (not affecting the text), overall toning to paper, rear wrapper detached. AMERICAN IMPRINTS 28826: McCormick Theo. Sem., Woodstock College (closed in 1974), St. Louis Univ., PPAmP. OCLC adds AAS, Woodstock Theol. Ctr. (now closed but the library remains at Georgetown Univ.) Not in PARSONS. Contains the text of "Protestantism and Popery" by "Boston" [pp.3-6] followed by Hughes rebuttal. Hughes(1797-1864) was at this time a young priest at St. Mary's Church in Philadelphia. He rose quickly, through ambition and ability, later becoming Archbishop of New York and the most influential Catholic leader of the 19th century.
