Heacox. 1898; Theodore Presser Co.; Philadelphia. Softcover with 117 numbered pages, and nine blank "Notes" pages at the back. The chapters are as follows: Relative Pitch - Exercises Based upon the Diatonic Major Scale; Notation; Studies in Rhythm; Motives and Short Phrases; Phrases Selected from the Works of the Great Composers; The Minor Mode; Chromatic Progressions; Modulation; The Period; Intervals; The Two-Part Phrase; A Preliminary Study of the Four Kinds of Triads; Chords in the Major Mode - Inversions, Passing Tones; Chords in the Minor Mode; Modulation into Nearly Related Keys; Canon - Free Imitation - Fugue. From the Preface: "This little book is the result of several years' experience in teaching Ear Training as a systematic and regularly organized course of study. Having had, during this time, an opportunity to study the needs of a Large number of pupils, I have carefully sought to make the studies and exercises thoroughly practical; nothing has been incorporated which has not proven its value after repeated use in my own classes." Condition: The book is in Near Fine condition and appears unread - clean both inside and out with only a small, light smudge at the outer margin of the title page. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached.
