Early College High School: An Intentional Design - Book 3: Academic Structures and Systems

Early College High Schools are proving to be among the most successful school models to serve diverse populations of students in the 21st Century. The third book of the series focuses on school-wide design structures like master schedule, special support classes, and the crosswalk of dual credit classes. Processes such as the use of rounds and instructional coaches to encourage self-reflection are discussed, as is the importance of classroom systems to enhance student learning. Administrators in Early Colleges as well as those considering opening an ECHS will find value and understanding on exactly how these schools are consistently outpacing comparative groups in almost all academic measures. All educators will be able to gain a greater understanding of how the nationwide design principles are used to accelerate learning for students that have typically struggled in our system.
