Single issue of The Geographical Journal, vol. CV (105), January-February, 1945. Bagnold's article appears on pp. 30-46, including discussion, with large folding map at rear. The article is illustrated with photographic plates. It is remarkable that it confidently appeared before the end of the war in Europe. The Long-Range Desert Group (LRDG), founded by Bagnold, played an important role in the defeat of the Axis forces in North Africa. Other contents of the issue are The Hadrahmaut in Time of War (pp. 1-29, again with large folding map at rear), Air Photography and Archaeology (pp. 47-60), etc. Four pages of ads preceding articles, from booksellers, suppliers of expeditions, etc. Very good condition in original wrappers, a nice clean copy.
