Synopsis

Early Man of the Indian Rockshelter is an attempt to search for the antiquity of Indian rockshelter paintings. This attempt is based on the global scientific researches which reveal the essential unity of Pre-historic Stone Age Culture, throughout the Old World. The book discusses the pre-historic human migrations and their relationship with the rock art. Based on the palaeontological facts, the present study establishes the period of some of the Indian rockshelter paintings few millennium older than what they are generally being thought to be.

About the Author

S.K. Tiwari, he served for 25 years as a Professor of Geography in various Post-Graduate Colleges of Government of Madhya Pradesh, later he served as Head of the Department of Tribal Studies, Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur for more than thirteen years. He supervised 20 doctoral researches and was the director of research projects funded by U.G.C., I.C.S.S.R. and the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Government of India. He retired in the year 2003, but still continues to write regularly. He is well known as an adventurer and explorer.

S.P. Awasthi, he serve as a Principal of K.B. Art and Commerce College, Bhitoni (Jabalpur) since 1989. He completed a two year research project funded by U.G.C. (2007) requiring extensive survey of rockshelters in lower Son Valley.
