Through easy-to-follow text and 350 photographs and illustrations, including installation sequences, you will learn how to select and install closet-system components available at home centers, hardware stores, and specialty closet retailers.
Many homeowners complain about a lack of closet space, but in many cases it is not a lack of space — it is how that space is used! This practical guide introduces a variety of closet types and closet systems, then walks you through easy-to-build projects that improve the organization and functionality of both standard and custom-built closets.
Inside this book, you'll find ideas and step-by-step guidance for:
- Coat closets and mudrooms to keep entry areas neat and easy to use
- Kids' closets that make clothes, shoes, and gear simple to store and find
- Main bedroom closets that hold more and keep stored items easy to reach
- Linen closets and kitchen pantries for cleaner shelves and faster grab-and-go storage
- Closets on a budget using components like shelves, rods, drawers, and bins
- Utility, garage, and basement storage to organize tools, supplies, and household overflow
- Closets that do more with unique storage ideas for everyday living
- Closets where there were none with guidance on adding new storage where you need it
You will also find dozens of practical tips for closet lighting, organization, ventilation, and moth prevention, plus organization tables that show how much space typical clothing and household items need for neat, easy-to-reach storage.
