This copy has been cleaned up, with the spine nicely mended with Japan tape, and the whole being sewn-in to new wrappers of high-quality paper. VERY GOOD. Nice copy. [++] Ingenhousz's paper describes simple techniques for quantifying the volume change that occurs when common air and nitrous air (also known as nitric oxide) are combined, accurately measure the decrease in volume that results from the chemical interaction between the two types of air. (It also includes experiments on platinum ("Platina").) [++] Ingenhousz is best known for discovering photosynthesis by showing that light is essential to the process by which green plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. [++] It seems that this is Ingenhousz's second published paper.
