About the Author: Michael Andrew Stugrin was born in Bloomsburg, a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania. He earned a BA in English from Bloomsburg University and a Ph.D. in English from The Pennsylvania State University. He was an Instructor of English at Iowa State University and an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh. Michael worked at Westinghouse Electric Corporation as an executive speechwriter and later held senior communications and public relations positions with Sperry Corporation, Unisys Corporation, and Concurrent Computer Corporation. He was vice president of strategic planning and marketing at Pinkerton Security and Investigations, Inc. in Encino, California. He later ran his own consulting and writing firm, Power-by-Words.com, Inc., before retiring in 2012. Michael writes articles for Symphony Magazine and is co-author of Music Looks Forward: The Long Beach Symphony Orchestra 1934-2009. He has served on the boards of the Long Beach Symphony Association, the Long Beach Public Library Foundation, and the Alamitos Heights Improvement Association. He lives in Long Beach, California, with his life partner, Brian Andrew Buchanan.
