Mary Jane and Jeff Cardarelle-Hermans are the authors of "Eating Economically Is Just Plain Smart: How We Feed Our Family of 7 For Less Than $50 Per Week." They live with their five children in Glendale, WI, where they have been residents for the past four years. Before moving to Glendale, they were residents of Madison, WI, for ten years. The couple adopted their five children at the end of 1993. Before that, they were their children's foster parents. Two of their boys have been with them since 1989, the other two boys since 1990 and their daughter since 1993. Their children are all biological siblings.

Mary Jane grew up in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Jeff grew up in Luxemburg, WI.
